oslo international summer school at the university of oslo, norway
as if two international trips in 6 months wasn't enough (ethiopia for 5 weeks in january and sweden over spring break), i returned to scandinavia for two months in summer 2005. one of my closest guy friends, fedde, and traveled to oslo to study at the 6 week summer school, along with students from literally all over the globe (my roommate, nermina, was from bosnia). i took two classes, scandinavian architecture and design as well as norwegian history, and took in the fabulousness of the beautiful norwegian summer, with its long days (initially the sun didn't set until around midnight every night!), relaxed atmosphere spent primarily out-of-doors except during class and bedtime (the norwegian value their beautiful nature!), and plenty of exploration of the forrested hill overlooking the city, swims in the chilly lake and fjord, and long afternoons relaxing at the beach, lakeside, or in vigeland park, people watching. people watching pretty much became an obsession, such gorgeous norwegian men speaking such a beautiful language!

jotunheimen mountains rafting and hiking adventure
one weekend, we took an excursion to the beautiful jotunheimen mountains (as if i wasn't already completely enthralled with the country, it just kept getting more and more gorgeous) for a day of hiking and another day of white water rafting. team con-gusto, as we came to be called (front-max/fedde, second-alexia/hanna, third-devin/me and our guide, martin) braved the wild rapids and the frigid water with enthusiasm and adrenaline-seeking behavior. a couple times we flipped the raft, and i had never been happier that close to hypothermia.
